Tooth replacement refers to the restoration or replacement of natural teeth. There are a variety of tooth replacement options, including dental implants, fixed bridges, partial dentures, or full dentures. Tooth replacement may be recommended for a variety of reasons, including:

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge fills a gap in your smile. This dental prosthetic consists of dental crowns placed on either side of a gap with a false tooth or teeth in the middle. This false tooth is sometimes referred to as a pontic. The dental crowns fit over the existing teeth, and the pontic fills the gap in your smile.

A dental bridge is a permanent fix for tooth loss. It can last for many years, provided you practice good oral hygiene habits. Brushing and flossing around your bridge is vital for avoiding plaque and decay. If you take good care of your bridge, it should last for at least five years.

Dental Implants

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that a dentist places into the jawbone to replace a missing tooth. Typically, this artificial tooth root is made of titanium, which is biocompatible with human tissue. A dental implant is surgically inserted into a missing tooth’s socket in the jawbone. The implant is anchored to the jawbone with an artificial tooth root through the surgery process. Once healed, the implant may be restored with a dental crown or bridge for replacement teeth.

Dentures (Full or Partial)

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. There are two types of dentures - complete and partial. Complete dentures are used when all teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth still remain. Dentures are custom-made for your mouth.

Mini-Implants

Mini-implants are an excellent option for patients who have lost one or a few teeth and want to restore their smile. They may also be used to secure a partial denture. Mini-implants mimic the function of the roots of missing teeth, providing a strong foundation for artificial teeth.

Compared to other tooth replacement options, mini-implants are minimally invasive. They are typically placed in a single appointment and don’t require any oral surgery.

All-On-4®

All-On-4® treatment, also known as Teeth in a Day, involves placing four dental implants in the upper or lower jaw. These implants provide a strong, stable base for permanently anchored teeth. This treatment is ideal for patients that have severe tooth damage or decay and want to avoid the need for dentures.
